Hi, Wayne

You don’t know me.

However, I know you.

Wait, that sounds threatening. Let’s start over.

I had the idea of this blog a little while ago. I picked out the name, I designed the logo, I created the website, and I started writing.

I finally Googled the name and found a million things with the same name. How original of me.

THEN I found out that some Welsh dude named Wayne had the SAME idea a little earlier and also had a personal blog about constructing life. But I was in too deep. It’s hard work coming up with so many construction metaphors when I know nothing about carpentry.

I checked trademark databases. I Googled. I panicked. I Googled some more. Eventually I concluded that neither of us appears to own the concept of having an unfinished life or wanting to work on ourselves.

So that’s good news.

Coming back to the slightly unhinged start of the post; I know you a little, through your writing. Your wholesome writing makes me want to go out into nature and sip a glass of white wine on a picnic blanket while listening to a good audiobook. A classic maybe. Perhaps some Hemingway, the way he describes the Spanish countryside. But I digress.

You don’t know me, but we had very different ideas with the same name. And we had them around the same time, too. You, in a vineyard in beautiful West Wales, and me… well, that’s still a secret.

I don’t think the blogosphere is too small for both of us. Right, Wayne?

We seem to have both stumbled upon the very original idea of writing about our lives. Contemplating our surroundings and our experiences.

You put it so beautifully on your website, I hope it’s OK to share it here:

“None of us are ever truly finished.”

This is exactly the belief I’m trying to cram into my head. There’s always more. It doesn’t have to end here. There is still time to turn things around and find a second wind.

Isn’t it kind of crazy and wonderful that two strangers, countries and decades apart, had the same idea? One describing everyday life and making sense of the world through introspection, and the other… trying to rebuild hers.

I hope my readers visit your blog. You really do write beautifully.

You don’t know me, Wayne, but I know we can coexist. Who knows, maybe I’ll anonymously visit your vineyard one day.

Again, it sounded a lot less creepy in my head.

So, dear readers that aren’t Wayne… go over to his world for a little bit. It’s a nice place to be.

Cheers, Wayne.
